Today we had the chance to talk to our EBI Expert of the Month, Richard George. Richard is the Senior Program Director, P.G. NJDEP LSRP of the Site Investigation and Remediation Division at EBI. Q.) How long have you been at EBI Consulting?
A.) I’ve been at EBI Consulting for 6 years.
Q.) What is your title/position?
A.) Senior Program Director, P.G. NJDEP LSRP of the Site Investigation and Remediation Division.
Q.) What interested you about this field?
A.) I first became interested in the field because of the ability to assist in finding creative ways to help solve real world environmental concerns.
Q.) What is a typical work day like for you?
A.) Usually it starts with an email or phone call from a client or coworker that starts out with “So Rich I have this site I need your help with...". From there it typically goes to a phone call where we unravel the issues and then discuss options and costs to help mitigate the issues. From there I often work with local and state environmental agencies and case managers on my ongoing remediation projects. Between that I also work with our Phase I ESA and sales team to do a lot of conference calls with lenders, attorneys, property owners and purchasers to mitigate and manage any environmental concerns that have been identified. Conference calls often solve a lot of project concerns. In addition, I review reports and help with our ongoing Phase II projects. Everyone always wants to know the cost (bottom line) so a majority of my time is spent providing proposals, cost estimates and opinions of probable costs. Lastly, I can’t forget soil vapor! It wouldn’t be a normal day if I didn’t have a least one discussion a day on the topic of soil vapor.
Q.) What do you find most enjoyable about your job?
A.) What I find most enjoyable about my job is working directly with clients and coworkers, as well as coming up with creative ways to help resolve project concerns.
Q.) What is your favorite thing about EBI?
A.) No commute because I work from home, new projects and working with my team members.
Q.) What is your most memorable accomplishment at EBI?
A.) Definitely mentoring and helping our Site Investigation and Remediation Group to grow.
Q.) What interests or hobbies do you have outside of your career?
A.) Some of my interests and hobbies include, traveling, fishing, surfing, sports and coaching my son’s soccer and ice hockey teams.
Q.) What is your favorite genre of music?
A.) Bossa nova (Brazilian jazz)
