EBI Consulting worked with the client to provide civil engineering design and permitting to support the proposed mixed-use redevelopment located in Cambridge, MA.

Challenges

The project included the planning and redevelopment of an underutilized site in the fresh pond area of Cambridge into a vibrant, transit-oriented, multifamily urban residential development consisting of approximately 60 apartment units and 5,000 sq. ft. of commercial space. Our team coordinated with the client to ensure project deadlines were met.

Solutions

Our project responsibilities included the preliminary due diligence and feasibility analysis, conceptual planning, design and permitting, and preparation of construction level design documents and specifications. Design responsibilities included site layout, grading, drainage design and utility layout including design of Low Impact Design elements and Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) storage. Additionally, we designed the site, including parking, sidewalks and accessible routes in accordance with MAAB and ADA regulations.

Outcomes

Our team collaborated with the various project team members and the city of Cambridge staff and construction team members to ensure successful coordination and construction oversight with concurrent design and construction of a city of Cambridge CSO removal project immediately adjacent to the project.
